Mr. Beiersdorf's Super Scientist Homepage Welcome Students and Families to the 2010 - 2011 School Year! My name is Mr. Beiersdorf. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to teach the fantastic seventh grade science and health students in the Nimitz Math/Science/Technology Magnet, the "Magnet Scholars of the 21st Century!" On my website you will find many helpful tools that will lead you to success. Check back often, and enjoy! Please feel free to contact me at any time. A link to my email is shown below, and you may always call the school at the number below to set up an appointment to meet as well! IMPORTANT DATES AND REMINDERS CONFERENCES: There are two scheduled conferences during the first semester that provide opportunities for families to review their child's progress in class. -

The first 3 will be given to your child by his/her homeroom teacher and brought home to you on the dates listed below, and the 4th will be mailed home at the end of the semester. If you do not receive a report card for your child on the dates below, please contact the school. -
5 Week Report Card Sent Home With Students: Monday, -
10 Week Report Card Sent Home With Students: Monday, -
15 Week Report Card Sent Home With Students: Monday, -
20 Week Report Card Mailed Home: After February 11, 2011 GRADE REPORTS: Your child will receive a grade report from me every 5 weeks when he/she receives each report card. The grade reports will be glued into his/her science notebook and will list all assignments and corresponding grades. Please review each grade report with your child, discuss his/her progress, and together develop a plan for how you can support your child's success. I will ask that you sign the report and sometimes write a reflection piece with your child. Please note that if your child receives a grade lower than "C" on any report card, he/she is NOT completing all of the required assignments. This is a very serious situation and I suggest that you make an appointment to meet with me and also work with your child to develop a plan for how assignments will be completed in the future. Far too often I have seen students not complete their work in the beginning or middle of a semester, thinking they can somehow bring their grade up at the end of the semester. This is not possible, as your child's final grade is cumulative and will be based on a semester's worth of work. I will not provide make-up or extra credit work at the end of a semester, nor will I ever accept late work (with the exception of work turned in the day following an excused absence).
