Greeting Families!
My name is Ms. Balarie and this is my sixth year teaching 8th grade science at Nimitz Middle School. I earned a Bachelor's degree in zoology from Humboldt State University, and a single subject teaching credential in science from Cal State Long Beach. Currently, I am earning a master's degree in educational administration from Cal State Northridge. I have worked in a variety of settings and it is my intent to bring all of my experiences to my classroom and use them to help my students learn and lead successful lives.
I maintain high expectations for student performance throughout the entire school year. We will learn everything about physical science from forces and motion to atoms and astronomy. Students will fully participate in activities, labs, problem-solving, reading, and many other lessons, and show what they have learned by submitting high quality work. I believe it is my responsibility to teach the required content, treat all students with respect and care, provide a safe learning environment, provide the necessary discipline, and arrive to class prepared and ready to work. I believe it is the responsibility of my students to learn the required content, treat me and fellow students with respect and care, help to maintain a safe learning environment, abide by class and school rules, and arrive to class prepared and ready to learn. As long as we adhere to these principles we will have the freedom to explore science in a hands-on manner, and advance your understandings of science to make connections with your own lives.
